And here’s a bit of the story behind the story-

I had written one complete novel, back in around 2000, and was keen to write the next. My partner, Tim, who’s an archaeologist and heritage professional, suggested a plot in which some wicked relatives were keeping a heroine drugged, and she needed rescuing by a war-damaged hero, friend of her late brother.

I took the hook, played around with it, and eventually, out came a Regency romance, featuring a heroine who only had a few moments of clarity every day, when the laudanum she was forced to take wore off, just long enough to realise the deadly danger she was in. But she struggled to convince the hero she wasn’t mad and fit only for the lunatic asylum.

Fast forward to around 2019. I already had 2 U.S. publishers, but I wasn’t happy, so I was hoping to find another one. I submitted my only Tudor-era novel, LORD OF DECEPTION, to Dragonblade, and was told it was good enough to publish, but they needed me to write a series.

I went into overdrive to fulfil their expectations of me, putting together a further 4 Tudor era stories, 2 of which were completely new. The other two, which included LORD OF LOYALTY, were originally Regency romantic suspense, so I rewrote both stories as Elizabethan romances. What a job! Luckily, I was quite familiar with Tudor times, having been an educational re-enactor at Kentwell Hall, so I managed it. Phew! Thus the Trysts and Treachery series was born and LORD OF LOYALTY received a Crowned Heart review, which meant it was automatically entered into In D’Tale magazine’s awards scheme.
